Event attended by youth from across Europe

Douz youth representing in strasbourg

We had three Douzelage representatives at the European Youth Event this June in Strasbourg. This event takes place every two years in the European Parliament, inviting youth from across Europe. This year saw 9,000 people involved. It features debates, workshops, cultural activities, and networking sessions where participants can share ideas with policymakers and contribute to shaping EU policies.

L-R Stefan Pielmeier (Bad Kötzting, DE), Hannah Mc Nulty (Bundoran, IE) and Thorsten Wohleser (Judenburg, AT) in Strasbourg

The event aims to empower youth voices, promote active citizenship, and foster European cooperation, aligning with our goals for Douzelage Youth. Thorsten Wohleser (Judenburg), Hannah Mc Nulty (Bundoran), and Stefan Pielmeier (Bad Kotzting) all attended this two-day event to spread the word of Douzelage, and to learn and bring back some inspiration for our own organisation and meetings.

At the plenary session in the Hemicycle in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

They attended many workshops such as Sustainable Tourism, Climate Crisis, European Capitals, European Citizens Initiative, Reimagining a home: a youth vision for housing as well as translation simulations. They also heard from many leaders and MEPs including the youngest of them all, Lena Schilling from Austria. Last but not least they got to experience the culture of Strasbourg, a European capital, different from our usual Douzelage towns!
