Exchanges between Granville (FR) and Niederanven (LU)
music across the miles of europe!
The young musicians of the Niederanven Music School’s Youth Band took part in an unforgettable exchange in Granville, France from 8 to 11 May 2025. The group of twelve enthusiastic musicians embarked on a 10-hour bus journey to Normandy, where they were warmly welcomed by the local music school and their hosts.
The program started with a visit to the iconic Mont-Saint-Michel, followed by a first meeting with their wonderful host families. Saturday brought the big musical moment: a joint rehearsal and concert with youth orchestras from Granville and Rennes. Though slightly intimidated at first, the Niederanven musicians were proud to contribute to a grand final performance with over 120 musicians on stage. In between, there was time for cultural discovery, sightseeing, ice cream – and even a quick swim in the sea!

During their stay, the musicians had the opportunity to visit Schengen, where they were able to deepen their knowledge of the history of the Schengen area and the creation of the European Union. The day before, a guided tour of Luxembourg City also allowed them to discover the capital’s main historical and cultural sites.
