Jeremy Barker (Sherborne) is re-elected Douzelage President for a further 3 year term. Bernard Husson (Granville) and Riitta Huovinen (Karkkila) were elected as Vice-Presidents.

16th General Meeting takes place in the UK

The 16th Douzelage General Meeting takes place for the second time in our UK partner town of Sherborne.

1998

November 6

15th General Meeting takes place in the Netherlands

The 15th Douzelage General Meeting takes place in our Dutch partner town of Meerssen.

May 15

Oxelösund, Sweden joins the Douzelage family

Oxelösund, Sweden becomes the 14th partner town to join the Douzelage

May 15

14th General meeting takes place in Italy

The 14th Douzelage General Meeting takes place in our Italian partner town of Bellagio.

1997

October 10

13th General Meeting takes place in France

The 13th Douzelage General Meeting takes place in our French partner town of Granville.

April 5

2nd President of Douzelage elected

Jeremy Barker (Sherborne, UK), one of the founding fathers of the Douzelage organisation, is elected second president during the General Meeting in Bundoran, Ireland. Jean Marc Julienne of Granville is elected Vice President.

April 4

Karkkila, Finland joins the Douzelage family.

The town of Karkkila in Finland becomes the first town to expand the original family of Douzelage formed in 1991. They are the 13th member. They would subsequently leave the organisation in 2013.
